Travis Morgan

Synopsis
At an idyllic Greek-style temple, Morgan lies wounded, delirious after a battle that has left the soldiers around him dead. A crow tries to pluck his eye out and he crushes it in his hand. Hearing laughing, he sees a group of warriors pursuing a beautiful platinum-haired maiden. The men mean to harm her, but Morgan wades in and kills them one by one, until only one is left. The last man drags the girl to a precipice, saying, “Good men have died for you!” Morgan shoots him through the heart. As he falls over the cliff, he spits out, “Fool…!”

Morgan pulls the girl to safety and she asks him, “Are you now my champion?” Memories swirl before Morgan and he says he supposes he must be, but he cannot remember. Memories of his life fill him, and confusingly he sees the men he killed fighting at his side.

He awakens some time later, and his memories have faded. He cannot remember his name and the girl reminds him he is Travis Morgan the Warlord and tells him of his prowess. Morgan says you can’t always believe a legend. Their conversation continues and she avoids telling him who she is while saying this is a place of forgotten things. The people who built it were fleeing a great cataclysm that destroyed their empire. In the war that followed, they lost the last of their civilisation, forgetting their gods and becoming more beast than man.

Only a few of the gods remain, their powers fading, jealous of the mortals who no longer need them. Morgan does not believe in gods, but, she says, “What if… they believe in you?”

Suddenly, beast men who had been lurking in the shadows above descend upon the pair. eom
